Honeywell Green Jet Fuel to Power First-Ever Transatlantic Biofuel Flight
Monday, June 20, 2011

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J.

WHAT:

Embarking on a new "world first" in alternative energy use, Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Green Jet Fuel is powering the first-ever transatlantic biofuel flight for the Paris Air Show. When it lands in Paris, the Honeywell-owned Gulfstream G450 will become the first aircraft to fly from North America to Europe with a 50/50 blend of camelina-derived biofuel and petroleum-based jet fuel.

From advanced avionics to innovative and sustainable Green Jet Fuel and energy efficient engines, Honeywell is applying industry-leading expertise to make flights safer, more environmentally friendly and more affordable.

This flight follows the initial approval from ASTM International for the use of aviation biofuel made from natural oils such as Honeywell Green Jet Fuel in commercial flight. The biofuel, as a 50/50 blend with petroleum-based jet fuel, meets all specifications for flight without any modifications to the aircraft or engine.

The business jet will arrive in Paris-Le Bourget Airport as the company prepares for the Paris Air Show.

WHO:

The flight will be piloted by Honeywell Ch ief Pilot Ron Weight.

Also on board:
  • Jim Rekoske, vice president and general manager for Honeywell UOP's Renewable Energy and Chemicals business, can offer a unique perspective on the benefits of Green Jet Fuel.
  • Carl Esposito, vice president of strategy and product development for Honeywell Aerospace, can talk about how Honeywell's technological developments across its entire portfolio address airlines' need to drive down the cost of operations and achieve carbon-neutral industry growth.
