Oneidas' biomass plant to go before Green Bay City Council
Tuesday, March 1, 2011

A controversial garbage-to-electricity plant rejected by Ashwaubenon will land in front of the Green Bay City Council tonight.

The City Council is scheduled to consider permitting the biomass gasification plant at 1230 Hurlbut St., on the city’s west side.

The estimated $23 million development is proposed by a company launched by the Oneida Tribe of Indians.

Ashwaubenon officials and residents rejected the plant’s first site at 3100 Packerland Drive because of concerns about potential public health hazards.

The City Council meeting starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 100 N. Jefferson St. It is open to the public.
